The Purchase District is offering a 2-day Basic Lay Servant course on Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28, 2018. The course will run from 6:30-9:00 p.m. on Friday evening and from 8:00am-4:00pm on Saturday. This course is for those who either have never completed the Basic Lay Servant training or don’t remember if or when they completed it, and those who are interested in becoming a Lay Servant in their Church or Charge. In the Basic Course topics such as servant and spiritual leadership, caring ministries, basic communication skills, sharing your faith and leading meetings will enhance your knowledge and skill as a leader. This course is not designed to prepare you to preach. Those who have gifts for preaching may take the advanced course on preaching after this course.
Dinner, a light breakfast, and lunch will be served. Please let us know if you have special dietary needs!
What is a Lay Servant and why do we need them?
Lay Servants are to serve the local Church or Charge in any way that their witness or leadership and service inspires the laity to deeper commitment to Christ and more effective discipleship. This includes the interpretation of scriptures, doctrine, organization, and ministries of the church.
