Aid for severe flooding victims in Eastern Kentucky

Posted August 11, 2022

It has been heart-wrenching to watch as fellow Kentuckians experience severe flooding in the Eastern part of our state for the last 2 weeks. We are far too familiar with the long road that is ahead of those that have lost everything. If you or your community would like to give to rebuilding efforts, please go to the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference web page for updates or contact us at the District Office for assistance. | Link

On the weekend of August 6, 2022, the Southern Graves County Emergency Rescue Team (SGCERT) collected emergency supplies and delivered them to Jackson, Kentucky. These pictures of the uploading are familiar to many of us in Western Kentucky. If you look in one picture you will see blue cleaning kits. The kits are from the Purchase District—we were thankful to have these available because of the effort of our UMC churches in the Purchase District! An additional 500 were sent from our conference supplies to other Eastern Kentucky donation points.

MORE KITS ARE NEEDED: By the end of August, TWK Disaster Response will communicate a conference-wide collection date and district locations where additional cleaning kits, as well as hygiene kits, can be dropped off. Please start assembling these kits now! Below is the UMCOR links for instructions for completing the kits.
