It was quite an evening for the 3rd annual Laity in Action Celebration on Saturday, October 28, 2017. The World Renowned Rust College A’Cappella Choir from Holly Springs, Mississippi performed at the Kenneth Shadowen Performing Arts Center located on the campus of Marshall County High School in Benton, Kentucky. Also, the Marshall County High School Chamber Choir, under the direction of Ms. Jessica Dismukes, sang and they were an inspiration to everyone. There were approximately 200 people in attendance and the love offering taken for Rust College was $1,578.00!!
I would like to thank the members of our Purchase District Laity Team for their hard work and support and especially to Mr. Jim Capps who worked with Rust College in preparation for their coming. The choir members stayed with 15 Host families in Benton and Calvert City and enjoyed a delicious meal at Benton First United Methodist Church (UMC) after the concert and a hearty breakfast at Calvert City UMC before the choir left to return home the following day.
We were indeed blessed by the choir singing and we are also very blessed to have an active Laity Team that works tirelessly to make connections within our district as we all work to transform lives in God’s kingdom.
Thanks and love to all who made this night possible.
